[1124] μεριμνῶν In classical Greek μεριμνᾶν is usu. “to give one's thought to a question ” (as of philosophy, Xen. Mem. 4.7.6 “τὸν ταῦτα μεριμνῶντα);” here merely = “to be occupied with ”: cp. Xen. Cyrop. 8.7.12 “τὸ πολλὰ μεριμνᾶν”: and so in the 1 Cor. 7.33 μεριμνᾷ τὰ τοῦ κόσμου.
