A.“-ιῶ” LXXIs.45.2, “-ίσω” Sm.Jb.39.10 : aor. “ὡμάλισα” LXXIs.28.25 :—Pass., pf. ὡμάλισμαι (v. infr.) : aor. “ὡμαλίσθην” Arist.Pol.1266b3 : fut. ὁμαλισθήσομαι ib.1265a40 : fut. Med. ὁμαλιεῖται in pass. sense, X.Oec.18.5 : (ὁμαλός) :—make even or level, “τὴν γῆν” Thphr.CP5.9.8, cf. Damox. 2.50 :—Pass., X. l.c., IG22.380.10, PPetr.2p.43 (iii B.C.).
2. level, equalize, “μᾶλλον δεῖ τὰς ἐπιθυμίας ὁ. ἢ τὰς οὐσίας” Arist.Pol. 1266b30, cf. 1267b5 :—Pass., διὰ τῆς κτήσεως ὡμαλισμένης ib.1270a39 ; ὁμαλισθησομένη εἰς τὸ αὐτὸ πλῆθος ib.1265a40 ; “πόλεις ὡμαλισμέναι ὑπὸ τῶν συμφορῶν” Isoc.5.40, cf. 6.65.
3. reduce to a uniform mass, “ρὰ σιτία καὶ τὸ ποτόν” Diocl.Fr.141.
II. intr., to be or remain equal or equable, maintain one's level, Thphr.CP5.1.12, Mnesith. ap. Ath.5.357e, Plb.29.26.2, Phld.Po.5.9.
