τιννύοντες Plu.Brut.33;
A.δίκην τιννύςOlymp.Hist. p.455 D.; gen. pl. ἐκ-τιννύντων v.l. in D.S.16.29; ἐκ-τιννύω, = pendo, Gloss.; δίκας τιννύω, = pendo poenas, ib. [The 1st syll. is prob.always long (even in E.Or.323); the spellings ἀποτεινύτω (Crete, v B.C.), ἀποτειννυέτω (Avrom., i B.C.) (v. ἀποτίνυμι), and the form of the root (τι^-: τει-: ποι- (v. τίνω), never τι_-, which belongs only to τίω) show that the true spellings are τεινυ-, later τειννυ-, still later τι_ννυ- with ι long by nature: the early forms ἀποτινυ[μεν (v. ἀποτίνυμι, [τ]ινυμε[νο] GDI5125 A3 (Crete) remain unexplained: τίν[υ]σθαι is uncertain in IG12(9).1273 (p. viii) (Eretria, vi B.C.): perh. τι^νυ- existed as well as τεινυ-.]
