Οἰδίπους, the more frequent voc. (cp. O. T. 405 crit. n.): but “Οἰδίπου” below, 557, 1346. Athens is a little more than a mile S.E. of Colonus. The picture which Sophocles meant πύργοι to suggest probably included both the Acropolis—a beautiful feature in the view—and the line of city-walls with their towers. So the city-walls of Thebes are “πύργοι,Ant. 122.

οἳ at the end of the verse: cp. O. T. 298, El. 873, Tr. 819.
