Wiedemann denies that Egyptian influence on Ethiopia is so late; he considers that the story was invented to explain Egyptian influence in that country, and points out that Ethiopia had been conquered, as far as the second cataract, under the 12th Dynasty, not to mention later relations (cf. App. X, ยง 9).
