2. Ἀμφικτυονικὰς: see §§ 147.3, 156.—καταφεύγει, takes refuge, opposed to φεύγει (1), shuns. 3. προφάσεις ἐνδούς: cf. Thuc. II. 87 (end), οὐκ ἐνδώσομεν πρόφασιν οὐδενὶ κακῷ γενέσθαι. 5. μὴ λέγετε περιιόντες, do not go about and tell. 6. ὑφ᾽ ἑνὸς ἀνθρώπου, i.e. by Philip: cf. εἷς ἀνήρ (of Philip), XIX. 64. Philip (he says) could never have accomplished his purpose, had he not had such accomplices as Aeschines. Notice the effective collocation in ἡ Ἑλλὰς ἀνθρώπου.
