2. ὡμολόγεις: i.e. your friendship with Philip.

3. φιλίαν καὶ ξενίαν: see §§ 51, 52.

4. μετατιθέμενος, substituting (ap- plying by exchange).

6. τυμπανιστρίας, timbrel-beater: the τύμπανον, kettle-drum, was a favourite instrument in the Asiatic ceremonies described in §§ 259, 260. — γνώριμος, or even an acquaintance.

9. κατὰ σαυτοῦ...συμβᾶσι, an informer against yourself after the facts, whereas παρὰ τὰ συμβάντα (cf. § 285.4) he had denied everything which told against him (§ 283.6). See § 197.9 and note.

11. πάντας μᾶλλον, i.e. any rather than myself: most MSS. (not Σ and L.1) add the implied ἐμέ.
