παραπλάκτῳ, frantic: Eur. H. F. 935γέλωτι παραπεπληγμένῳ”. The adj. is more usually “παραπλήξ”. Cp. 40δυσλόγιστον..χέρα.

συγκατακτὰς, slain in a confused heap, cattle and men together. (In Eur. Or. 1089συγκατέκτανον”=‘helped to slay.’) For the nonthematic aor., cp. Soph. Tr. 38ἔκτα” (n.).— κελαινοῖς here suggests both the dark, gleaming metal, and the dark stains of blood upon it. Cp. Soph. Tr. 856κελαινὰ λόγχα” (n.).
