μῆκος, adv., ‘at great length,’ like “μακράν, τέλος”, etc. If we read “σύντομον” or “σύντομα, μῆκος” might be obj. acc. to “εἰπέ”, but “συντόμως” seems right. Cp. Aesch. Pers. 698 “μή τι μακιστῆρα μῦθον ἀλλὰ σύντομον λέγων ι εἰπὲ καὶ πέραινε πάντα”.
