Said by Creon, clearly—not by the Chorus. ‘I can give thee no encouragement (οὐδέν adv.) to hope that the doom is not to be ratified on this wise’ (i.e., by death). μὴ οὐ, not “μή”, on account of “οὐδέν” (443 n.). κατακυροῦσθαι, pres. denoting what is to be; Ph. 113“αἱρεῖ τὰ τόξα ταῦτα τὴν Τροίαν μόνα”. Attic prose used “κυροῦν” or “ἐπικυροῦν” (“γνώμην, νόμον, ψήφισμα”, etc.). Cp. Creon's peremptory word “τελείαν” in 632. ταύτῃ (722) combined with τάδε: cp. 39.
